Jessica Baker's Family

My name is Jessica Baker. I was born on the 13th of May 1975 in Bristol, in the UK. I have two younger sisters and one older brother. My father‘s name is Edward and my mother’s name is Katherine. I now live with my husband, Allan, in Newcastle. We have two children: Matt and Silvia.

My husband and I own a small hotel in the centre of town. It’s a family business. My brother-in-law, Colin, and my father-in-law, Ken, help me with the administration and the bar. My sister-in- law is in charge of supervising the household chores, such as cleaning, washing and ironing which are done by two employees. My mother in law, Rita, works in the kitchen with two assistants. My husband works on the reception. Sometimes, when we have too many guests we ask for help from one of my cousins, Andrew, who also lives in Newcastle.

We usually invite all of our family to our little hotel for Christmas. It’s really nice because my children and nephews and nieces can see their grandparents from Bristol. My mother-in-law prepares a lovely dinner with the help of my aunt Karla, who is a really good cook. We all gather around the table and we sing Christmas carols. My sisters Patricia and Brenda, who like handcrafts, decorate our Christmas tree with handmade ornaments. They also hang colourful handmade stockings on the fireplace for the children.

The next day, we all gather together around the tree in our pajamas and open the Christmas presents brought by Father Christmas down the chimney the night before. This is the most exciting moment of the day, especially for the children.

On the 26th December, boxing day, my uncle Peter likes to take the children to see a film. The children love him because he always buys them tons of pop-corn and plays with them. We also go for a walk around our neighborhood and if it has snowed the young ones enjoy throwing snowballs at each other.

This is my family. Without a doubt, the best family in the world.

La familia de Jessica Baker

Me llamo Jessica Baker.

Imprimir

Maybe I misheard but I think I heard "gather" instead of "get" in the next sentence

"The next day, we all get together around the tree"
